Our patients receive care from multi-disciplinary teams which include consultant surgeons, consultant physicians, consultant pathologists, consultant radiologists, clinical nurse specialists, and visiting consultant medical oncologists and consultant clinical oncologists.
We provide cancer services in the following areas:
We deliver a stratified follow-up pathway, where appropriate, for colorectal and prostate cancer patients that aims to increase the efficiency of cancer surveillance and improve patient experience.
Our dedicated support workers are the first point of patient contact and bridge the gap between self-management and the clinical team.
We work closely with Macmillan Support and Information Centres in West Lancashire and Southport and have developed an innovative programme of referral to ensure all cancer patients are offered the opportunity to be supported by a Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA). HNA and care planning are offered to all patients diagnosed with cancer along with support to patients living with and beyond cancer.
We support local Macmillan Health and Wellbeing events in Southport and Formby, and West Lancashire. These events provide education and information to people affected by cancer.
The Trust continues to adhere to the two-week wait for patients to be seen by a consultant after referral by their GP for suspected cancer.
