Attending Board meetings

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust Board holds its monthly Board meeting in public.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe these public meetings but must be aware that whilst the meeting is held in public, it is not a public meeting.

Questions from the public

If a member of the public wishes to raise a question they must submit the question to the Corporate Governance team at soh-tr.corporategovernance@nhs.net or telephone 01704 704 4783 no later than 5pm on the Monday prior to the meeting.

An issue will not be deferred because members of the public cannot be present for the meeting.

Board Papers

The Board recognises its corporate responsibility to sustainable development and reduction of its carbon footprint, and sets the example for this by conducting paperless meetings.

Whilst a limited number of printed boardpacks will be available at the meeting, we would prefer that members of the public use the electronic versions where possible, enabling us to minimise costs associated with printing Board papers.

If you do require a hard copy of the papers to be available at the meeting, please contact the Corporate Governance team at least two working days prior to the meeting.

The Board meeting

On arrival, please make yourself known to the Corporate Governance team.

A nameplate for each Board member is displayed on the table to help you identify who is speaking. The Board will consider the items on the agenda in turn. Members may not actively discuss each item in detail; this does not mean that the item has not received careful consideration but it may be because the matter has been discussed in detail at Board Committee level or because no-one wishes to challenge the recommendations being made.

Each paper will include a front sheet which outlines the summary and the recommendation to the Board.
