The Trust boasts an interdenominational Hospital Chaplaincy meeting the needs of patients, relatives, staff and visitors. Chaplains visit wards and departments across the Trust on a daily basis, when they are on hand to spend a few quiet moments with patients and anyone else who so wishes. The Chaplains are assisted by a group of Lay Visitors who also regularly visit patients. The Chaplains can also be contacted ‘out of hours’ if a patient asks to see them or if the nursing staff feel it would be beneficial.

The kitchens at Southport also provide all the meals for over 350 patients. Patients are asked to complete menu cards each day from which the meals are prepared.
The food is freshly prepared and cooked for each meal, and wherever possible we try to source the ingredients from local suppliers wherever possible. We cater for special dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, diabetic, high protein, reducing diet, celiac, low residue and low potassium. We also provide Halal and Kosher meals and special meals at particular times of the year, such as Passover. If patients have particular dietary needs, they should discuss them with the ward staff.
