The Unit relocated into newly refurbished accommodation at Ormskirk hospital from Southport DGH in April 2005. The refurbishment which cost in the region of £800,000 provides a welcoming environment for its patients and is fully equipped with a range of consulting and treatment rooms, a dedicated theatre and equipment. All aspects of disease affecting the mouth, jaw, face and neck are dealt with at the Unit as well as providing consultant led orthodontic services. These services include minor oral surgery, plastic surgery, jaw disorders, orthodontic treatments, removal of facial skin cancers and facial disfigurements. Mark Boyle, Consultant Maxillo-Facial Surgeon and Tim Morris, Consultant Orthodontist are supported by Associate Specialist Kate Hargreaves, a maxillo-facial nurse, 2 dental nurses and 2 secretaries Liam Connolly, Operational Manager for the Unit said “We are delighted to welcome Una Atherley, Chairman West Lancashire Council to our new state-of-the-art maxillo-facial and orthodontic unit.” He went on to say “The considerable investment in this Unit is indicative of the Trust’s commitment to provide the very best service to the residents of Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Southport & Formby and surrounding districts of West Lancashire.
