18 March 2005 at 14:29
The traffic lights that have been planned for the entrance to Southport Hospital are to be installed by June. Work is to start at the entrance on Town Lane on Monday 4th April and is scheduled to take 14 weeks. Sefton Council have to the Trust the aim is to cause minimal disruption, hence the scheduled completion date of June. They aim to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible by doing the work in sections.

Changes to Ovington Drive will mean drivers can only turn left out of it on to Town Lane. There will also be two Puffin Pedestrian Crossings on Town Lane either side of the hospital entrance. An anti-skid surface will also be laid on Town Lane on the approaches to the traffic lights.

Steve Taylor, Director of Facilities said, “As some disruption will be inevitable, I would ask patients and visitors to please allow a few extra minutes for their journey to and from the hospital.”
