Right Arrow 2014 Pride Awards shortlist revealed

Thirty-eight staff, teams and volunteers have been shortlisted in the Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust 2014 staff awards.

The Pride Awards shortlist was chosen from more than 500 nominations by Trust staff and members of the public in 13 categories.

The candidates for the Patients’ Award shortlist were chosen from 132 nominations made by members of the public. They are Kim Barker (community matron), Mark Bennett (nurse consultant) and Lynne Kofi (senior staff nurse, gynaecology).

Chief Executive Jonathan Parry said: “We have had a fantastic response to this year’s Pride Awards and congratulation to everyone who was shortlisted.”

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner for staff which will be held at the Floral Hall, Southport, on Friday 6th June. The full shortlist is as follows:

Chairman’s Award (for volunteers): Bert Ball (chaplaincy team), Tom Kennelly (community), Karen Moss (patient choir)

Patients’ Award: Kim Barker, Mark Bennett, Lynne Kofi

Safely Reducing Costs: Community continence team, Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Nursing Practitioners, Sickness Absence Team

Patient Safety Awards: Caroline Forshaw, Bed Managers and Clinical Co-ordinators, Adults at Risk Liaison Team

Doctor of the Year: Paddy McDonald, Victoria Finney, Dragos Stanciu

Nurse and Midwife of the Year: Wendy Benson, Linda Baldwin, Gayle Haney

Healthcare Assistant of the Year: Ann Whitfield, Carol Riding, Cathryn Formby

Health Professional of the Year: Moira Burford, Dominic Bray, Cathy Rimmer

Support Worker of the Year: Valerie Gallagher, Karl Watling

Administrative/ Clerical Worker of the Year: Catherine Lunt, Chris Pilkington, Hayley Nothard

Leadership award: Mandy Smith, Alison Green, Debbie Curran

Chief Executive’s Award: Jane Mawdsley, Carol Fowler, Sally Nicol

Team of the year: Spinal Injuries Unit outreach team, AppleJacks cafe at Southport hospital, Community Children’s Nursing Outreach Team
