29 November 2012 at 16:03
Damian Reid has joined Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust as Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance.

He was appointed to the Board from Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust where he became director of finance in 2008.

Damian succeeds Colin Throp who is retiring after 21 years with the Trust. He also takes over a substantial part of the portfolio of Steve Taylor who is retiring as Director of Capital and Estates after 24 years.

Between 2004 and 2008, Damian worked with the NHS foundation trust regulator Monitor and NHS London, supporting acute and mental health trusts that were applying to become foundation trusts. This included working with financially challenged trusts and assessing trusts for foundation trust authorisation.

Prior to this, he worked in a range of finance roles, including the Compass Group, EC Harris and the Ministry of Defence.

Damian has a Master of Business Administration degree, is qualified as a Chartered Secretary and also a Chartered Management Accountant. His hobbies include skiing and bridge.

Damian said: “I am looking forward to joining Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust. It is an exciting opportunity, supporting the development of the Trust’s plans for more joined up care between hospital and home as well as supporting its plans for achieving foundation trust status.”

Trust chairman Sir Ron Watson CBE said: “I am delighted to welcome Damian who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from both the public and private sectors.

“We also wish Colin and Steve well for the future. They have both seen enormous changes in the NHS and have worked tirelessly to ensure patients receive the best care possible.”
