Right Arrow Man given Community Punishment Order for abusing A&E Staff
11 November 2009 at 14:03
Ashley Langley aged 23 of Skelmersdale was given a six-month Community Punishment Order at Southport Magistrates Court last week following his arrest at Southport Accident & Emergency Department in July this year. He was also ordered to pay £65 court costs.

Police were called to the department because he was being abusive, aggressive, shouting. The nursing staff were attending to Langley's partner. The staff feared for the safety of the patients.

Alan Lee, Risk Manager at Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust said, “We have a zero tolerance towards both physical and verbal abuse of our staff. They are here to help people in their hour of need, not to be a victim of such an attack. We hope this action by Merseyside Police reinforces the message that such behaviour will not be tolerated in our hospitals.”
