Right Arrow Hospital champions care with new campaign
11 November 2009 at 13:56

Care as Care Should Be is a new Southport and Ormskirk hospital campaign to raise awareness of dignity in care.

The campaign emphasises improving the overall quality of care and improving the experience of everyone whether they are patients, carers or staff. Seven key areas are being focussed on:

• Respect and dignity
• Delivering same-sex accommodation
• Patient safety
• Patient experience
• End of life care
• Vulnerable adults and children
• Confidence in caring

Sue Johnson, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust matron for privacy and dignity, said: “We must ensure our services care for people in a way which respects their rights and gives them the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control.

“Compassionate, people-centred care is at the heart of this campaign and we welcome all suggestions or comments about how we care whether it’s where we got it right or how we could improve.”

Let the Trust know your views by writing to Sue Johnson, or deputy director of nursing and midwifery Angela Kelly, at: Trust HQ, Southport and Formby District General Hospital, Town Lane, Kew, Southport, Merseyside, PR8 6PN.
