Right Arrow CHANGES TO THE CAR PARKING SYSTEM
27 March 2009 at 16:04
From Monday 30 March at Ormskirk & District General Hospital and from Wednesday 1 April at Southport & Formby District General Hospital, the Car Parking Payment System at the hospitals is changing.

Rather than there being a £3 per visit flat rate, the charges will be based on length of stay.

The new charges will be:

0 – 20 minutes: Free
20 minutes – 2 hours: £2.50
2 – 4 hours: £3.00
4 – 8 hours: £4.00
Over 8 hours: £5.00

On arrival at the barrier a ticket will be issued and this will then have to be taken to a pay station for payment and then inserted into the barrier on exit. The pay stations will be located in the main entrances to the hospitals and outside near to the main car parks. Disabled visitors will still be able to park for free by taking their ticket to either the General Office or the Porter’s Lodge for validation.

Weekly passes will still be available from the General Office for £10 (with a £5 deposit for the pass).

Trust Board Chairman Sir Ron Watson Said; “We have felt for some time that our current system of car parking charges are out of date and too much of a ‘blunt instrument’. The new approach will I hope be accorded as a fairer and more realistic system and the Trust will carefully monitor the revisions over the coming months. We believe it will benefit some 50% of users who will pay less and the vast majority who will not pay any more than at present.”
