Right Arrow Trust welcomes two new Consultants to A&E
02 April 2008 at 11:13
Two additional consultants have been appointed to work in the two A&E departments within Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. They will divide their time between the children’s A&E at Ormskirk and the adult A&E at Southport. Both Dr Alan Owens and Dr Michael Aisbitt have spent all their careers in the Merseyside region.

Dr Owens was educated at St Francis Xavier School, Woolton and graduated from Liverpool University Medical School. He started his career at Aintree Hospital and has worked his way up the ladder mainly at Aintree and Whiston Hospitals, but also at the Liverpool Royal and the Countess of Chester Hospitals.

Dr Aisbitt was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield before also graduating from Liverpool University Medical School. He has also spent his time in and around the region, including a time at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. He has spent time at Warrington Hospital, the Royal in Liverpool and Aintree and most recently he has been working as a locum consultant at the children’s A&E at Ormskirk since September last year.

Jonathan Parry, Chief Executive commented, “The appointment of these two new consultants will help us to improve on our already excellent record of over 98% of patients being seen and treated within four hours of arrival at A&E. It will enable us to further reduce the time patients spend in A&E both at Southport and at the children’s A&E in Ormskirk.”
