Right Arrow Press Release - People wanted to join Children’s Unit Focus Group - PR/08/0405
06 May 2004 at 11:34
Following the first successful meeting of the Children’s Unit Patient Focus Group at Ormskirk and District General Hospital last Wednesday, Paediatric nurse manager Shirley Coward said, “We are pleased with the response we had from the public, but would like to see more people getting involved. The next meeting is to be held on Wednesday 26 May 2004 at 7pm in the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic at Southport & Formby District General Hospital.”

The purpose of the Focus Group is to get the patient’s views in order to provide the best possible services when the new unit opens later this year. The Children’s Unit is part of a £25 million new building, which will incorporate the children’s accident and emergency department, a 32-bed inpatient ward and outpatient facilities.

Shirley continued, “We know the sort of facilities we need as professionals but we want to hear from children and their parents to get ideas on what they see as important for the unit. We know that being in hospital is a difficult time, particularly for children, so we want to make their stay with us as comfortable for them as possible.”

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Focus Group, and the hospital wants to hear from both children and their parents/carers, contact Shirley Coward on 01695 656287 or Anna Morris Ward Sister on 01695 656612. Or come along on Wednesday 26 May 2004 at 7pm to the Paediatric Outpatient Clinic at Southport & Formby District General Hospital.
