About the Trust

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to a population of around 258,000 across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire. We have a budget of more than 1£170m and employ 3,400 staff.

In 2010/11, we treated 257,000 patients at outpatient appointments and 60,000 as inpatients. We have a total of 500 inpatient beds.
Care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital.

In April 2011 the Trust became responsible for community services in north Sefton and West Lancashire. Since then care has also been provided at home and in community clinics.

We are home to the North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre and provide specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The centre, which is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for the treatment of people who require permanent mechanical ventilation following spinal cord injury, admits patients from across the United Kingdom for this highly specialised care.
