Right Arrow Formal opening of new educational facilities at Ormskirk Hospital - PR/03/0506
21 April 2005 at 15:22
New educational facilities at the Learning Resource Centre at Ormskirk & District Hospital were opened yesterday. The new facilities, which are an exciting development for all clinical staff and students training at Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, were opened by Professor John Caldwell, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Liverpool and Mrs Eileen Martin, Dean of the Faculty of Health at the University of Central Lancashire.

The hospital has created a centre of excellence for clinical skills training. Included in this is a new library that provides a friendly and helpful service on any clinical subject quickly and accurately to support all those involved in patient care. The library is open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week and offers a range of books and journals and access to on-line services.

Heather Ainscough, Medical Education Manager, said, This development supports doctors, nurses and students in learning new skills and gives them an opportunity to practise them in a safe learning environment. Through this they are able to keep up to date with the latest procedures.
