Right Arrow Press Release - Support for proposed move of acute medical beds welcome PR/13/0405
16 June 2004 at 10:24
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust welcome the decision yesterday by the West Lancashire and Southport & Formby PCTs that the proposed move of General Medical Services should go ahead. It will mean the transfer of 85 acute medical beds and 3 coronary care beds to Southport and Formby District General Hospital from Ormskirk and District General Hospital.

Jonathan Parry, Chief Executive said “While we understand the concerns raised during the consultation period, this will mean that we can go ahead with planning the move of medical services from Ormskirk to Southport and concentrate on ensuring the highest possible patient safety and quality of service. Our own Trust Board is meeting this afternoon to discuss how we will take these plans forward and we will keep residents informed as the process of moving the facilities takes place over the coming months.

“In light of one of the major concerns raised during the consultation, we will also continue to discuss with local councils and service providers the issues about public transport.”

Issued by Matthew King, Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust.
