Right Arrow Patient Opinion tell us and other patients about your experience
23 July 2007 at 14:18
Did you know there is an independent, national website where patients can share their experience of Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust? Patient Opinion aims to turn patient feedback into better services. The web address is www.patientopinion.org.uk.

The public can use the site to thank the hospital or specific members of staff, relate a story about their experience, make constructive criticisms, rate our services and compare us to other hospitals.

Patient Opinion is an independent, not-for-profit business where all surplus value will be returned to the NHS. It covers all NHS Acute Trusts and private sector providers. Paul Hodgkin, FRCGP, Chief Executive of Patient Opinion explained, “Patient Opinion is for any comment about hospital care. We review all postings before they are published and we aim to turn patient feedback into better services by working with users, patient groups, commissioners and hospital staff.”

Liz Yates, Director of Nursing at Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust commented, “We always welcome feedback from our patients and already receive comments via comment cards on the wards. However, we realise some patients might like to wait until they are back at home before commenting about their experience, which is why we are very happy to be working with the Patient Opinion website and the Strategic Health Authority to encourage patients to share their experiences.”
