Postnatal ward and antenatal ward
We aim to provide care tailored to the needs of you and your baby. Antenatal and postnatal care is given within a safe, friendly, caring and welcoming environment. You will be looked after by our team of midwives, specialist midwives, maternity and health care assistants. There is also access to our doctors and consultants 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
In our newly refurbished maternity ward we provide a mixture of single occupancy, two bedded, three bedded and a four bedded wards. Rooms are light and airy and each bedside cabinet is stocked with fresh bath towels and cot linen. All have bedside TV’s and integrated phones with internet access (pre-pay system). We offer a daily meal ordering service and unlimited access to hot and cold refreshments.
All our maternity and neonatal wards are secure and all babies have identification bands and wear a security tag. We have a rooming in policy whereby your baby stays with you at all times to promote bonding. We will be able to support you through your feeding choice. In addition, we have a team of breastfeeding peer support workers that attend the ward and can visit you at home on discharge for extra breastfeeding support.
Our health care assistants are an invaluable part of the team providing bathing demonstrations and giving support. Our midwives and maternity care assistants discuss aftercare for you and your baby to promote your health and wellbeing.
We aim to make your stay a positive special experience for you and your family and respect your individual needs. We actively encourage feedback and suggestions in order to constantly improve the service we provide.
In the event that your baby may need the support of our Special Care Baby Unit, care is provided within a close proximity allowing parents to have easy, close access.
